Nana Patekar recently expressed displeasure at the fact that Pratyusha Banerjee’s suicide was getting way more media attention than farmer suicides, reports INDIA TV. Patekar has always actively campaigned for the cause of farmers in Maharashtra.

While speaking to the news channel, Patekar said:

The girl (Pratyusha) dying was most unfortunate. But it is being highlighted day after day in the media. What about farmers who kill themselves? Are their lives not worth anything?

Patekar had started an NGO in 2015 called NAAM Foundation along with noted Marathi actor Makrand Anaspure to help drought-affected farmers and widows of farmers who had committed suicide.
