A Delhi court on Friday, 12 March, extended by three days the interim protection from arrest granted to climate activist Shubham Kar Chaudhari, in connection with the “toolkit” case related to the farmers protest, reported PTI.

Chaudhuri had moved the court seeking anticipatory bail on Thursday.

On Friday, after a brief hearing, Additional Session Judge Dharmender Rana granted the relief after police sought an adjournment in the proceedings till 15 March.

Further, the judge directed that no coercive action can be taken against the accused till the next date of hearing.

The Bombay High Court had recently granted him transit anticipatory bail, providing him protection till 12 March in order to enable him to approach the competent court in Delhi for seeking appropriate relief, IANS reported.

According to PTI, Chaudhuri’s counsel told the court that his case was entirely different from the others accused in the matter as he had no role in making the toolkit.

Muluk and Jacob’s Hearing on 15 March

The judge will also hear the anticipatory bail of engineer-turned-activist Shantanu Muluk and lawyer Nikita Jacob soon.

The duo was granted protection from arrest till 15 March. Ravi, Muluk, and Jacob are facing charges of conspiracy and sedition in the case related to the farmers' protest. The police said that the 'toolkit' was a design to defame India and cause violence.

On 23 February, the court had granted regular bail to Disha Ravi considering the “scanty and sketchy evidence on record”.

In the bail plea, Muluk has asserted that he merely created the document with information on the agitation, which was then edited by others without his knowledge.
