Cellular companies are protesting the release of Rajnikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0, as the movie promotes 'anti-scientific' attitude towards mobile phones, towers and cellular services.

According to an Economic Times report, the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has argued that the movie is against 'public interest’. Further, the association claims that the movie is defamatory to its members and violates their constitutional rights. The COAI has filed a complaint with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.

"2.0 falsely depicts mobile phones and mobile towers as harmful to living creatures and the environment, including birds and human beings," the complaint, filed on 23 November says, ET reported.

The COAI has demanded a recall and revocation of the certification granted to the movie. It has also demanded the suspension of the movie's promotions.

This came less than three days before the release of the movie, that has been delayed multiple times.

The people however, seem immune to this development. Not many people took to social media to express their satisfaction/dissatisfaction over the developments.

From whatever little reactions that have come up, most are in support of the movie. It could be the bizarre claims made by the telecom body or that such things are nothing new, whatever it is - it did not garner enough attention and seems like 2.0 makers have nothing to worry about.

With a massive budget of around Rs 600 crore, the Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 promises to be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2018.
