The rift between the Rajputs and the BJP in Gujarat has now turned into a battle of egos. On Saturday, the BJP called a meeting of Rajput leaders including Dansangh Mori of Budhel Village in Bhavnagar at Amit Shah’s residence in Ahmedabad in order to put an end to the quarrel between Mori and State BJP President Jitu Vaghani.

The meeting was attended by former Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, Karnataka Governor and former Gujarat assembly speaker Vaju Vala (who is also a prominent Karadia Rajput leader) along with Jasa Barad, who is the president of Karadia Rajput Samaj and Jitu Vaghani.

Mori, after coming out of the meeting, said that they have compromised over the Vaghani issue after Shah assured them that all the criminal cases of rioting and theft against 13 of their members will be withdrawn. However, now Mori wants Vaghani to apologise publicly.

Bharat Pandya spoke to The Quint and said, “Jasabhai Barad was part of the meeting and he has already spoken to the press about the settlement with Rajputs as he is the leader of the Karadia Rajput community. He knows what transpired in the meeting.”

Jasa Barad spoke to The Quint and said, “There was no talk on tendering apologies in the meeting as the meeting was called attain settlement on the issue and the issue is now over.”

When The Quint called Jitu Vaghani to get his comment on the matter, he categorically refused to make a statement. As BJP claims that the Rajput issue has been settled, whether the Rajput community will exact revenge during the assembly polls is yet to be seen, as many members of the community are still loyal to the Saffron party.
