All seven girls (including five victims of Muzaffarpur shelter home case) who had gone missing from a shelter home in Mokama on Saturday, 23 February, have been found by police, ANI reported.

Six of the missing girls were found on Saturday while the seventh girl was recovered from Madhubani on Wednesday.

The girls had gone missing from a shelter home in Nazareth Hospital in Mokama in Bihar.

A report by News18 suggests that five out of these seven girls were survivors from the Muzaffarpur shelter home – a case which brought to light that the inmates were subjected to sexual abuse.

A missing report for the seven girls had been been registered, Kumar Ravi, District Magistrate of Patna said, confirming the incident.

"Seven girls escaped from the shelter home located at Mokama between 3 am and 3:30 am. They were under treatment for their violent behaviour," Social Welfare Department Director Raj Kumar told news agency PTI.

Interestingly, the seven accused in the Muzaffarpur case, including some key aides and close relatives of the prime accused Brajesh Thakur, were on Friday, 22 February, taken to Delhi for deposition before the Special POCSO court at Saket where the trial has been transferred by a Supreme Court order. On Saturday, the court fixed the next date for hearing of the case on 25 February.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, on Saturday, tweeted saying that all the seven girls who have gone missing, are witnesses in the case. He indicated that the incident is a conspiracy to protect someone.

Responding to the report of the girls being witnesses, Raj Kumar said, “I don't know exactly... I will be in a position to say anything on this after reaching the spot”.

Reportedly, the girls were staying at the Mokama shelter home for the last four-five months. One of the grilles was cut at around 3 in the morning following which the girls went missing, the News18 report states.
