Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said “something has happened in the past two-three days” while referring to the brutal killing of Border Security Forces (BSF) head constable Narendra Singh by Pakistani troops.
At the event of unveiling of Bhagat Singh’s statue on his 111th birth anniversary in Muzaffarnagar, Singh hinted at some action taken by India on the Narendra Singh’s case, whose throat was slit by Pakistani troops on 18 September. This comes on the second anniversary of surgical strike.
Kuch hua hai, main bataunga nahi. Hua hai theek thaak hua hai. Vishwas rakhna bohot theek thaak hua hai 2-3 din pehle...Aur aage bhi dikheyega kya hoga. He also said that forces have the freedom to retaliate if they are attacked first.
“Maine BSF k jawano ko kaha tha ki padosi hai, pehli goli matt chalana, lekin ek bhi yadi agar vahan se chal jaati hai toh apni goliyon ko phir gin na matt.” (I told the BSF soldiers that they are our neighbour, don’t shoot first, but if they shoot even one bullet, don’t count our bullets then.)Rajnath Singh
On 18 September, Narendra Singh had gone to cut wild grass when he and his colleagues came under unprovoked firing. After getting shot, his body was dragged to the other side of border and his throat was slit. It was recovered a day later.
Surgical strikes were carried on 29 September 2016 by Indian Army in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, in response to an attack by Pakistani troops which killed 18 army personnel.
