1. Mumbai Crime Branch to Probe Junior Doctor’s Suicide Case
The crime branch of Mumbai Police will investigate the suicide of a 26-year-old postgraduate medical student at state-run BYL Nair Hospital, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered on Thursday.
Three doctors — Ankita Khandelwal, Bhakti Mehare and Hema Ahuja — accused of driving Dr Tadvi to suicide have been arrested.
The family of Dr Payal Tadvi has accused all the three doctors of driving their daughter to suicide by discriminating against her on the grounds of her caste. A student of gynecology and a resident doctor at BYL Nair Hospital, Dr Tadvi belonged to the tribal Tadvi Bhil community.

2. Man Shot Dead in Bawana; Personal Enmity, Say Cops
A 42-year-old welder was gunned down by some car-borne men in outer Delhi’s Bawana on Friday evening, the police said.
While the murder comes in the wake of a series of gang wars in the city, Gaurav Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (outer-north), said the killing appeared to be a case of personal enmity.
He identified the dead man as Anil, a resident of Bawana, and said that he was shot once.
“Anil did not have a criminal background. An initial probe suggests it was personal enmity that led to his killing,” Sharma said.

3. Man Duped of Rs 10 L on Pretext of Business Deal
A man was allegedly duped of Rs 10 lakh by his acquaintance on the pretext of making him a business partner in Sector 14. The police on Thursday said that the accused man ran a mobile retail shop and had promised the victim a partnership in his business.
According to the police, the incident took place in March when the victim, a resident of an enclave on Railway Road, lent Rs 10 lakh to the accused for setting up the mobile retail shop. However, the accused who hails from Partap Nagar did not make him his business partner.
Sikander, sub-inspector, Sector 14 police station said, “When the victim asked for his money back, the accused refused to comply. The accused threatened to kill the victim when he kept asking for the money. The accused is yet to be arrested.

4. Ghaziabad Man Impersonates IGP to Harass Residents; Held
A 53-year-old Ghaziabad resident was arrested from central Delhi’s Hauz Qazi for allegedly impersonating a police officer Thursday, police said.
According to police, the accused, Rajiv Gupta, impersonated an Inspector General of Police-rank officer of 1989 batch, currently posted in Tamil Nadu, and used the latter’s photographs on the fake identification he carried around. “The accused bullied local residents with his fake identity card. He was using it for personal benefits,” said an officer, adding that he sells pipes in the area.
Police were alerted about the accused by a local, who was enrolled into the Delhi Police’s ‘Eyes and Ears’ initiative.

5. Delhi: Woman-Son Found Dead, No Arrests Made Yet
A day after a 26-year-old woman and her four-year-old son were found dead inside their home in Prem Nagar, police said they are questioning the woman’s family members.
“It appears the attacker was known to the victim as there were no signs of forced entry. We are questioning all suspects at present,” an officer at Patel Nagar police station said.
Police Thursday had said the woman, Roopa Devi, was allegedly first strangulated and her throat slit, while her son was strangulated to death in their rented room.

6. Faridabad ‘Sexual Assault’ Case: Professor Held
Fifteen days after an FIR was registered against three staff members of a Faridabad college for allegedly sexually harassing students “with the temptation of passing in papers”, police have arrested an associate professor named in the case. A peon and a laboratory technician were arrested days ago.
“The accused surrendered before the district court civil judge Sakshi Saini Friday, and was taken into custody by the women’s police station personnel for further questioning. All the accused mentioned in the FIR so far have now been arrested. Action will be taken if anyone else is also found to be involved,” said Sube Singh, PRO of Faridabad Police.

7. Charge of Molestation, Animal Cruelty in Delhi Society Names DLF Builders
DLF Builders, JLL security company and eight residents of a high-profile housing society in Delhi have been named in a complaint alleging molestation, cruelty to animals and charges of allegedly assaulting three other residents, including two women, for feeding stray dogs, police said on Friday.
The First Information Report (FIR) against the 10 accused was registered on Tuesday in Moti Nagar Police Station on the complaint made by Pragati Khanna, an activist at People for Animals an NGO of former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi.

8. Samajwadi Party Leader Shot Dead in Greater Noida
A Samajwadi Party leader was shot dead by unidentified assailants near his home in Greater Noida's Dadri area Friday, police said.
Ramtek Kataria was the president of the SP's Dadri assembly segment. The police have ruled out any political conspiracy in his death.
"The incident took place near his home on Jarcha road in Dadri around 12:30 pm. Around four unidentified men arrived in a car and fled after pumping five bullets in his body. Kataria was rushed to a hospital but did not survive," a police official said.

9. Anti-Terror Agency Busts Interstate Fake Currency Gang, 2 Arrested
A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team has busted an interstate Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) gang and arrested two people responsible for wide circulation of fake currency notes in Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
Based on a reliable input an operation was launched at Gurugram in Haryana resulting into the seizure of fake Indian currency notes with a face value of Rs. 1.20 crore.
The fake currency notes were all of the denomination of Rs 2,000.
The two people arrested are Kasim and Waseem, who belong to Mewat, Haryana.
