Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui reportedly failed to appear before the Thane crime branch on Friday (9 March) despite the summons issued to him in connection with the Call Data Record (CDR) case. As per TOI reports, the probe agency suggests that Nawaz’s lawyer had allegedly tried to procure CDRs of his wife illegally by enlisting a local detective, for Rs 50,000.
The Thane Police is investigating the case in which private individuals managed to obtain confidential CDRS with the help of detectives.
According to the leading daily’s reports, Thane police claims that during their probe, they stumbled upon conversations of the Gangs of Wasseypur actor’s lawyer Rizwan Siddique, who sought the CDR of Nawaz’s wife in phones confiscated from the accused.
The Thane Crime branch has arrested 11 individuals in the multi-city racket. As per The Indian Express reports, a constable from Yavatmal and a Pune man illegally using police IDs to obtain CDRs issued were also arrested. The police posit that the main accused is still at large.
Four detectives were arrested for illegally owning and peddling call details of people, including a few VIP records, on January 29. The four, whom the police identified as Makesh Pandian (42), Prashant Palekar (49), Jigar Makwana (35) and Samresh Jha (32) alias Pratik Mohpal named detective Rajani Pandit.

Senior inspector Nitin Thakre confirmed that Nawazuddin’s lawyer Siddique had presented himself and given his statement before the Thane police but that Nawaz was a no-show.
The Thane police informed The Indian Express that the price of these records started at Rs 25,000 and escalated in proportion to the profile of the person being pursued.
