Speaking at his second ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ event, on Tuesday, 29 January, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Playstation is good, but never forget the playing field".
At the event, held in Delhi's Talkatora Stadium, PM Modi interacted with roughly 2,000 students from high schools and colleges, along with their parents and teachers, addressing a range of issues related to examination stress.
“Technology can be instrumental in connecting parents and children. Parents should slowly teach children to use technology in the right manner, then children will leave PlayStation for a play ground. Technology must be used to increase our capabilities.”Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Responding to a query raised by a parent on the balance between video games and studies, Modi further asked the parent that whether the child indulges into online video game PUBG.
“Ye PUBG wala hain kya?”he asked.
The prime minister, prior to his interaction with students and teachers, also remembered former Defence Minister George Fernandes, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 88.
Modi further asked parents not to expect their children to fulfil their unfulfilled dreams, while addressing a question raised by an audience.
"I would request parents, do not expect your children to fulfil your unfulfilled dreams. Every child has his or her own potential and strengths... It is important to understand these positives of every child," he said.
During the first edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha in 2018, only students of Delhi-NCR participated in the event. However, Pariksha Pe Charcha 2019 was not only attended by students across the country, but was also joined by Indian students residing abroad, including in Russia, Nigeria, Iran, Nepal, Doha, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Singapore.
The event was also attended by Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar.
