Seeking to put an end to the tussle between BJP and Shiv Sena workers over the Mumbai North East seat, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has reportedly urged BJP national president Amit Shah to consider only sitting MP Kirit Somaiya’s name.
The Sena workers are opposing renomination of Somaiya, one of the most bitter critics of the Uddhav Thackeray led party.

2. HC Asks for Steps to Protect Fishermen, or Dump Coastal Road
The Bombay High Court on Friday asked the Centre to inform the court of the steps it was taking to ensure that the fishermen affected by the coastal road project were not robbed of their source of livelihood.
A bench of Chief Justice Naresh Patil and Justice NM Jamdar directed the Union government counsel, Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh, to file an affidavit stating whether the BMC should have conducted a study on the effect of the reclamation and construction work for the project on the fisherfolk in the city and their source of livelihood.

3. Witnesses Were Threatened by Nirav, Court Told
A London court rejected the bail plea of billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi on Friday after the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), which is representing India, revealed that he is accused of threatening witnesses and destroying evidence.
The court heard that Nirav had threatened Ashish Lad, a witness in the Rs 13,700-crore PNB fraud, that if he didn’t accept Rs 20 lakh and provide a false statement, he would be killed. Nirav allegedly also issued threats to witnesses in Egypt.

4. Namdeo Dhasal’s Dalit Panthers Backs Sena
With various Dalit factions taking sides and backing mainstream political parties, the late Namdeo Dhasal’s Dalit Panthers on Friday declared support to the Shiv Sena. Malika Amar Sheikh, wife of Dhasal, who now heads the Dalit Panthers, met Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Friday.
While Sheikh said that she had announced unconditional support to the Sena, Sena functionaries said that she had asked for some seats in the state Assembly elections scheduled for October this year. “I met Uddhavji, and we have declared support to the Shiv Sena. The Sena is our natural choice since we have had a long relationship with the party and the Thackeray family – right from the time of Prabodhankar Thackeray and my husband Namdeo,” Sheikh said.

5. Asian Healthcare Giant IHH Set to Take Over Jaslok
Malaysian–Singaporean IHH Healthcare Berhad is all set to takeover Jaslok, one of Mumbai’s oldest tertiary care hospitals, in an operationsmanagement agreement.
IHH, one of Asia’s largest private healthcare groups, took over control Fortis Healthcare by acquiring 31% stakes and infusing Rs 4,000 crore into the firm in July last year but continues to look for new opportunities to expand.
