1. ‘Time to Do or Die,’ Say Maharashtra Farmers Marching to Mumbai
Eight months after they marched the streets of Mumbai, farmers from across Maharashtra have once again reached the maximum city. Over 10,000 farmers walked to the city from Thane, demanding the right to the land they cultivate and complete loan waiver.
42-year-old Ghanshyam Damodar, a farmer from Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district has been sowing wheat in the one acre land owned by his fore fathers for over a century. However, over the last three years, due to severe water scarcity, Damodar’s debts have increased drastically. Since he doesn’t even ‘own’ the land that he tills, there’s no way to demand a loan waiver or seek compensation from the government.

2. Man Arrested for Raping 22-Year-Old
The Mumbai Police on Monday arrested a 25-year-old man who allegedly raped a woman after promising to marry her and getting her pregnant.
The accused left the 22-year-old woman at the Rajkot railway station and fled. The railway police contacted her family in Mumbai, who got her back. The woman is five months pregnant. The accused was arrested from Uttar Pradesh.

3. Mumbai Schools Want Advance Notice for Special Days
With the state education department asking schools to celebrate special days to mark national events, schools have demanded that they should be told about the plans at the beginning of the academic year so that academic schedule does not get affected.
In a recent circular, Maharashtra’s education department asked schools to observe ‘Constitution Week’ between November 26 and December 2 to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of the country’s Constitution. Schools have been asked to conduct programmes throughout the week. With most schools in the city reopening on November 26, they would have no time to plan these activities.

4. 2 Months On, Passenger Still Suffers Hearing Loss
Two months after Jet Airways crew forgot to turn on a switch to maintain cabin pressure on board a flight, one passenger is still suffering from hearing loss. Mukesh Sharma claims he will have to undergo surgery to repair the damage, which will cost him over Rs 5 lakh. Sharma is planning to move consumer court in Jaipur next week to seek compensation from the airline.

5. Marine Drive Bldgs Will Not Rise Above 24 Metres, for Now
Respite for residents opposing the BMC’s new guidelines that allow buildings at the Marine Driveheritage precinct to rise to 58 metres.
The BMC has decided to keep on hold its plan to allow buildings in the heritage precinct of Marine Drive to be raised to 58 m till the Supreme Court decides on a petition on the proposal.
With this, the height restriction of the Art Deco buildings stays capped at 24 m.

6. Engineer With Betting Addiction ‘Dupes’ Firms of Rs 2 Crore, Held
The VP Road Police has arrested two mechanical engineers for allegedly duping six metal companies to the tune of Rs 2 crore. The police said the alleged mastermind was addicted to cricket betting and dreamt to contest elections from Karnataka in future, for which he had decided to collect money.
Pradeep Gujjar Krishnamurti, a 29-year-old mechanical engineer and the alleged mastermind, was employed as a purchase manager with a Pune-based company, SS Engineering, which deals in manufacturing and exporting of chemical processing equipment. He hatched the plan and allegedly started cheating metal companies with the help of his friend, Saurabh Kalaskar, also a mechanical engineer.

7. Foetus Of Baby Boy Found In Plastic Bag In Nalasopara Building
A premature foetus was found on the terrace of a residential building of Sanyukt Nagar situated on Achole road which located in Nalasopara east on a Tuesday afternoon.
According to a police source, the foetus that was found was that of a baby boy and was wrapped in a plastic bag. When a woman, who resides in the same building, went to the terrace, she was met with a foul odour. On looking around, she stumbled upon the bag in which the body of the baby boy was left. Shocked as she was, she then immediately alerted other residents of the building.
