Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s packed visit to the United States has come to an end. The PM is headed back to India, and it is time for him to make good on his promises. Before we leave you for the day, here are the highlights from his last day in New York.

The round of meetings in New York began with Modi interacting with British Prime Minister David Cameron.

The Indian Prime Minister met with French President François Hollande on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Missed in Silicon Valley, the original tech entrepreneur Bill Gates dropped by to say hello to PM Modi.

The $ 2.5-billion helicopter deal was signed ahead of Modi’s meeting with Obama. Then came the MOBAMA hug! Namo called the meeting with Obama “very productive”. Together they gave a joint statement to the press after the talks.

In the end, PM Modi addressed the Leaders’ Summit on Peacekeeping at United Nations, New York.

Highlights from PM Modi’s address at the Leaders’ Summit on Peacekeeping:

  • Large peacekeeping providing countries do not have adequate representation in decision making bodies.
  • 180,000 Indian troops have participated in UN peacekeeping missions, 48 of the 69 UN peacekeeping missions so far.
  • Till date we have trained 800 officers from 82 countries.
  • Peacekeepers called not only to find peace and security. Mandates are ambitious, resources inadequate.
  • We are pleased that the high level independent panel has recognised these issues.
