1. IIT-Bombay Gets into Controversy over Twitter
The Shailesh J Mehta School of Management, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) drew flak on Monday, as a tweet from its official handle commented on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). While the tweet was deleted within a few hours, IIT-B spokesperson said the “Twitter handle was not official, was managed by a group of students without our knowledge and was compromised”. The account was deactivated in the evening.
In response to a tweet by author/commentator Shefali Vaidya, the handle — SJMSoM, IIT Bombay – which has 8,000 followers and is verified by Twitter, put out: “Because Hinduism and Hindutva are not the same. Being religious and being stupid are two different things. People here may be religious but not stupid enough to vote for #BJP.”

2. Milind Deora Demands Sena Opponent Publish Ad About Criminal Cases
With the battle for the Mumbai South seat getting intense, city Congress chief Milind Deora claimed to have pulled out the alleged criminal records of his opponent and sitting MP Arvind Sawant.
On Monday, Deora addressed the media at Mumbai Congress office and claimed that there is a case with 13 sections pending against Sawant, who has purportedly ignored 16 court summons by the fast-track court in the past one year. Deora said that the case was registered by the Dadar police at the time when Narayan Rane had left the Shiv Sena and the Rane camp and Shiv Sainiks had allegedly attacked each other.

3. BMC Investigates Measles Outbreak
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is investigating a measles outbreak in central Mumbai after at least 40 fresh cases were reported from areas that reported high rates of refusal during the recent vaccination programme.
Eight suspected outbreaks have been reported since January. An outbreak is a cluster of at least five cases from the same area, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Health officials suspect one death may have been caused by the disease.

4. Sitting on a Time Bomb, Say Shopkeepers as Fire Breaks out in Congested South Mumbai Market
A fire broke out at a shopping centre on the busy and congested Abdul Rehman Street in South Mumbai on Monday, a fire brigade official said.
Around four to five shops inside the Super Shopping Centre, located near Jumma Masjid, were gutted in the blaze, which reportedly broke out following a short circuit in an air conditioner in one of the shops. No casualties were reported.
This is the second such incident reported in the area this year. In January, a minor fire had broke out in the rear side of the shopping centre, locals said.

5. 41-Year-Old Man Held for ‘Impersonating Doctor, Running Clinic From Slum in Malwani’
Police arrested a 41-year-old man for allegedly impersonating a Jogeshwari-based doctor with a similar name and operating a clinic in Malwani.
According to police, the accused had duped slum dwellers in the area for two years. The fraud was detected when the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) conducted an inspection, police said. The complainant in the matter is an assistant medical officer, Amol Chauhan.
The accused was identified as Abdul Aziz, who is a resident of Bandra (West).
