1. 3 From Telangana Among Top 10 JEE Rankers

Three Telangana students scored Top 10 All India ranks in the Joint Entrance Examination-Mains exam, the most from any state. Shubani Srivastava from Delhi was the top ranker in the results released by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

State topper Battepati Karthikeya secured all-India fifth, followed by Adelly Sai Kiran from Siddipet at No 7 and K Vishwanth of Suryapet at No 8 Karthikeya is from Nellore but took the exam in Hyderabad. Konda Renu from Andhra Pradesh was ranked ninth.

2. Take Steps to Save Water, Telangana High Court Asks State Governments

Expressing concern over reports that by 2050 the entire country would be reeling under water scarcity, the Telangana High Court opined that all state governments should take immediate steps to solve the problems.

The governments, both Central and states, should take necessary measures for conservation of the water to protect water bodies, it said.

Even as residents of Hazipur are yet to recover from the alleged rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl, the body of another girl student, who had been missing for 45 days, was found in the same abandoned well on Monday where the first victim was found.

Bommalaramaram police suspects that the offender is a psychotic sexual offender who could be involved in more offences.

4. Ram Gopal Varma, Cops Face-Off Only the Beginning

The face-off between the Vijayawada city police and film director Ram Gopal Varma in the Andhra Pradesh capital on Sunday could just be the “trailer” as inputs trickling in from the AP police suggest that leaders and workers of both the ruling Telugu Desam and their main rival YSR Congress are flexing their muscles for a massive showdown on 1 May, the day his controversial movie Lakshmi’s NTR hits the theatres in the state.

5. Para Athlete’s Plea for Sponsorship

Kodad youth Naresh Yadav, who holds an M Tech degree from JNTU-Hyderabad, has mixed feelings about being chosen to lead the Indian para volleyball team in the World Series in Pingtan, China, from 6 May.

The 28-year-old is running from pillar to post to raise ₹1.40 lakh needed for the trip since para sports doesn’t figure in the priority list of the sports policy of either the State or Central government.
