1. 28-Year-Old Arrested for Mowing Down 2 With Mercedes

A 28-year-old man was arrested for allegedly mowing down two fruit sellers with his Mercedes Benz car in Dwarka late on Sunday night, police said on Tuesday, 4 December. One of the victims was killed in the accident while the other is critical, police said.

Police officials said the logo and broken pieces of the car, which is owned by the accused identified only by his first name Nakul, had fallen off at the accident spot at Ganapati Chowk in Dwarka Sector 9.

Anto Alphonse, deputy commissioner of police (Dwarka), said that Nakul was apprehended late on Tuesday night after the local police scanned the details of more than 4,000 cars of similar make in Delhi-NCR.

It remains to be probed if the man was drunk and under what circumstances the crash occurred, said the DCP.

2. Three Teens Apprehended for Minor’s Murder

A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death by three of his school mates in south Delhi’s Madangir on Tuesday, 4 December, police said. Three juveniles were apprehended for the murder, police officials said.

The alleged murder took place around 8 pm following an argument between the victim and his three teenage friends, police said.

Police said, following the heated argument, one of the three boys took out a knife and stabbed the 17-year-old a few times. Locals and neighbours told police that seeing the victim bleed, the trio fled from the spot.

Local residents called up the police and reported the matter.

3. Omie Kalani, 12 Others Booked for Kidnapping and Extortion

Thirteen people, including politician Omie Kalani, have been booked in a kidnapping and extortion case by the Kolsewadi police in Kalyan. The complainant, Anil Kanjani (37), who runs a wholesale garment business, alleged that he was kidnapped and threatened to hand over Rs 50 lakh to a Ahmedabad-based businessman to whom he owed money.

Kalani, the president of Team Omie Kalani (TOK) party which is in alliance with the BJP in the Ulhasnagar civic body, told Times of India that his name was “wrongly added” in the FIR.

4. Three Cops Held for ‘Kidnapping Wanted Man, Seeking Ransom’

Three policemen posted with Ranhola police station in outer district have been arrested from Maurya Enclave for allegedly kidnapping a man, against whom a cheating case was registered in Chhattisgarh, and demanding Rs 1.5 crore from his wife for his release.

Special CP (law and order of southern range) RP Upadhyay said an FIR of kidnapping and extortion has been registered against the three policemen.

“We have zero tolerance against such wrongful activity and have arrested the trio, identified as assistant sub-inspector Sube Singh, head constable Indu Parmar and constable Ajay Kumar,” Upadhyay said.

5. Five Arrested for Killing Traffic Cop

A family friend, three ‘contract killers’ and another man have been arrested for allegedly murdering a traffic police constable in outer Delhi’s Rohini last week, police said on Tuesday, 4 December.

Constable Dinesh Kumar was murdered for demanding back Rs 8 lakh he lent to his family friend, Narender over the past many years, said Rajneesh Gupta, deputy commissioner of police (Rohini). Police said Kumar’s body was found on Thursday in Rohini Sector 11.

6. BJP Youth Wing Leader Murdered in Lucknow, Two Youths Arrested

A BJP youth wing leader died after he was beaten up and stabbed in Lucknow late on Monday, 3 December. He succumbed to his injuries in hospital after being found on the road next to a petrol pump. An FIR has been lodged against five youths of his locality, police said.

Moments after the death of Pratyush Mani Tripathi (38) at KGMU’s trauma centre, his family members and supporters staged a protest outside, raising slogans against Lucknow SSP Kalanidhi Naithani. Heavy police force was deployed on the premises.

“At around 11 pm, we were informed about a heavily injured youth lying on the road in front of a petrol pump near Badshahnagar railway station. A police response vehicle was sent to the spot where Tripathi was lying unconscious. He rushed to KGMU trauma centre where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment,” said Vikas Kumar Pandey, station house officer (SHO) of Mahanagar police station.

7. Man Kills Friend for Resisting Theft Bid, Held

A 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his friend at the latter's office in Agripada in central Mumbai, police said Tuesday, 4 December.

According to police, the accused committed the crime as he was angry with the victim for resisting his theft attempt at the office where the latter worked as a sweeper.

The incident came to light on Friday, when a decomposed dead body of Mohammad Shakil Saiyad Ali was found inside the office of Build-Arch Marketing India Pvt Ltd, an official said.

"Ali had been working in the office as a sweeper since the last eight months. Before the murder, he had been spotted with one of his friends Rajbabu Koyle Mansuri," he said.

8. Banjara Hills Bizman Held for Rs 1 Cr Job Con

A 67-year-old businessman from MLA Colony in Banjara Hills was arrested by the detective department for cheating students under the pretext of providing a job with Indian Railways.

The accused has been identified as Pamidi Durga Prasad Rao.

A student from Khammam district had paid a huge sum to Prasad Rao, who had promised youths Group-C and Group-D jobs in Railways, as well Home Guards department, almost two years ago.

9. Murder, She Wrote: Woman & Kin Extort 75 Lakh From Bizman-Lover

Four members of a family are now cooling their heels in jail for allegedly extorting Rs 75 lakh from a city-based businessman by blackmailing him over several issues, including the concocted murder of a 39-year-old widow.

Krishnadas, 58, had no clue that the extortion was masterminded by the ‘murdered’ woman who he used to help financially.

Baby Rani, daughter Preethi, 23, her husband Manikandan alias Patel Babu, 30, and his brother Prasad, 26, a cabbie, from Thindlu near Vidyaranyapura, north Bengaluru, have been arrested for cheating Krishnadas, a catering businessman and resident of Nandini Layout.
