1. Haryana Man Wanted for 11 Murders Held from Lucknow

Delhi Police on Friday claimed to have arrested Vijay Farmana, 29, who was wanted in 11 cases of murder, one rape, an attempt to murder case and several cases of carjacking.

In April this year, Farmana and his two associates had taken a contract to kill a politician in Nagaland after the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, police said. His aides had been given a sum of ₹80 lakh and a Ford Endeavour car for the hit job, they said.

According to a police statement, Farmana is a graduate from Chhotu Ram Arya Jat College in Sonepat, Haryana. Out of the 11 murders in which Farmana was allegedly involved, three were triple murders committed in Haryana, while the rape was reported from Begampur, Delhi.

2. Washing Utensils Outside Her Home, Woman Killed

A 40-year-old woman was stabbed to death, allegedly by her neighbour, who objected to her spilling water while cleaning utensils, in South Delhi’s Mahipalpur on Thursday, police said.

The woman, Rekha, was stabbed in front of her daughter, allegedly by the accused, Gopal Singh. “We arrested Gopal and have recovered the knife from him. As per our information, he got into a confrontation with the woman after which he stabbed her,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Devender Arya.

The incident took place in the afternoon, when the woman was cleaning utensils outside her house. The accused, who was passing by, grew angry when she threw the left-over water.

3. Woman Gets Threat from Fake Account of DGP

A man created a fake account on a social media site with the name and profile picture of DGP Kapil Garg and demanded Rs 50,000 from a woman in Ajmer. When she refused, the man started threatening her, police said.

Ajmer SP Kunwar Rashtradeep said on Thursday a case was registered against unknown person under relevant sections of IT Act and 384 (extortion) of IPC.

“Investigation is underway. We are tracking the internet protocol (IP) address of the accused. After tracking the IP, the accused would be arrested. We will also try to find whether in past, the accused had tried or extorted money from anyone else,” said Rahstradeep.

4. Man Tries to Give Wife Triple Talaq on Whatsapp, Booked

The Thane Police on Thursday registered a case under the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act against a man who allegedly tried to divorce his wife over WhatsApp by sending her a triple talaq message.

The woman, 25, had submitted her complaint a week ago, saying that she had married Shaikh in May 2014. They had a four-year-old son. She alleged that over the past few years, her husband and in-laws harassed her, demanded money from her and asked her to leave the house. The woman then began residing at a relative’s house.

On 12 May, while having an argument with her husband on WhatsApp, she received a triple talaq message following which she approached police.

5. Man Killed, 2 More Injured as Car Hits Them in Manesar, Suspect out on Bail

A 25-year-old man was killed and at least two others were injured after a car allegedly hit them while they were walking near a private company in IMT-Manesar on Wednesday night. The police said that the suspect was arrested and granted bail on Thursday.

According to the police, the incident took place on Wednesday around 10.30pm when a car allegedly crashed into Juber, who was walking with a group of his colleagues, the police said. The injured are receiving medical treatment at the Rockland hospital in Sector 5, police said.

6. Social Activist Arrested in Mahesh Sharma ‘Blackmail’ Case, He Says Police Prerogative

Social activist Usha Thakur has been arrested by Noida Police for her alleged involvement in a blackmail case involving Union Minister Mahesh Sharma, who has alleged that Rs 2 crore was demanded from him. Three journalists have so far been arrested for allegedly attempting to extort money from Sharma.

Rajveer Singh Chauhan, SHO Sector 20, said: “During investigation, evidence came up which highlighted Usha Thakur’s involvement. A lot of information has also been shared by Alok, owner of a now-defunct TV channel and a Delhi-based journalist, who was arrested earlier. Usha has been sent to judicial custody and further investigation is pending.”

7. Two Booked for Snatching Gold Chain from Woman

A woman’s gold chain was allegedly snatched by two men, whom she had approached for help to unlock the door of her house in Palam Vihar on Thursday, said the police. The incident took place around 3:30 pm, when two men waiting outside her house offered help.

A police officer, requesting anonymity, said,“One of the suspects abruptly snatched the woman’s gold chain and ran away. She tried chasing them, but they managed to escape.”A case was filed against the suspects at Palam Vihar police station on Thursday.

8. 40-Year-Old Woman Killed by Neighbour in Delhi

A 40-year-old woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her neighbour in southwest Delhi's Rangpuri near Vasant Kunj, police said Friday.

The incident took place on Thursday night. The woman, Rekha Singh, was stabbed in her chest four times by her 22-year-old neighbour, they said.

According to the police, the accused – Gopal Singh – and the woman had an argument two days ago.

On reaching the spot, police learnt that the woman was shifted to AIIMS trauma centre. She was declared brought dead by the doctors.

9. Man Held for Uploading Obscene Image of Woman on Website

A 47-year-old man was Friday arrested for allegedly posting an obscene image and phone details of a bank employee on a web portal to defame her, police said Friday.

The woman realised this after she started getting calls on this matter from strangers following which she approached Bangur Nagar police last month, an official said.

“Crime Branch Unit XI arrested Alpesh Prakesh today. He has told police that he did it over a housing society dispute with the victim," the official said.
