1. CBI To Quiz Sovan In Narada Probe

The CBI has asked Sovan Chatterjee, former Calcutta mayor and Trinamool leader who recently joined the BJP, to appear for questioning in connection with the Narada sting case.

The summons came on a day the central agency questioned Mukul Roy, former Trinamool leader now in the BJP, in the same case in New Delhi.

Chatterjee, who joined the BJP on 14 August, has been asked to depose on 31 August. The CBI has also asked Aparupa Poddar, a Trinamool MP, to appear in the same case on 2 September.

2. Beat Up Police And Trinamool: BJP’s Dilip Ghosh

Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh has exhorted party workers to unleash counterattacks on police and Trinamool Congress members, assuring his men that the consequences would be “managed”.

Addressing a party programme at East Midnapore’s Mecheda on Monday night, Ghosh told BJP workers not to be afraid of the police and Trinamool.

“Attacks on BJP workers across the state have become common. Instead of arresting those responsible, the police are framing our boys in false cases. If you are under attack, beat up police personnel, beat up TMC workers. Do not be scared. If there is any problem, we will manage it,” said Ghosh, the Midnapore MP.
