A teacher of a vocational Higher Secondary school at Koyilandy in Kozhikode, Kerala, is in trouble for allegedly distributing books with a distorted version of Indian history, to students.

The content of the book is in tune with the ideals of the RSS according to TV reports, says Manorama Online.

The book was meant to be reference material for the “Sanskrit Jnanapareeksha”, a scholarship exam for students from class five to eight. The exam was conducted by Vidyabharati, an RSS outfit, on 21 October.

The District Educational Officer has conducted an enquiry against KK Murali, who is accused of distributing the books. The cover of the book has a map of Akhand Bharat with Pakistan shown as a part of it. It also has content which says that the mosque in Ayodhya was built after demolishing the Ram temple.

The deputy director of education said that he has submitted a report to the Director of Public Instruction to take further action.

"The teacher was placed under suspension on Saturday for engaging in unauthorised activity," DPI Mohankumar told The News Minute. He added that the book had content which distorts history.

In the book, Hanuman is given as one of the answers for the question “who are the sons of Bharat Matha?” Along with Hanuman, poet Kumaran Asan’s name is also given in the answer to that question. No activity is allowed in schools, including conducting scholarship exams without the permission of higher authorities.

"The teacher didn't inform even the headmaster about distributing the book. The headmaster could have informed higher authorities if he knew about it. We have a curriculum, nothing that is outside the curriculum will be allowed to be taught," DPI said.

The teacher in his explanation said that he was not aware of the content of the book.
He is said to have affiliation towards RSS, but I haven’t received any proof for that. The content of the book is not secular. A department level enquiry will be done against him.
