The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has once again denied an appointment to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. This is the fourth time that the CM’s request to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been turned down, News18 reported.
CM Vijayan and the all-party delegation want to meet the PM to discuss disparities in ration allocation in the state. But the appointment, the report said, was denied.
Later, PM Modi reportedly responded to the request. He suggested that the CM meet with Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, if required.
The communist leader had sought an appointment with the PM last week as well.
Prior to that, CM Vijayan wished to meet the PM on 20 March 2017 to appraise the budget allocation to the state, ANI reported. This did not materialise either.
On 24 November, 2016, a week after demonetisation came into effect, Vijayan requested for an appointment with the PM, but in vain.
Vijayan, along with other non-NDA ministers – Mamata Banerjee, Chandrababu Naidu and HD Kumaraswamy – had visited Arvind Kejriwal’s family last week when the Delhi CM was on a ‘sit in’ protest at the L-G's residence.
Vijayan is currently visiting Delhi to attend a CPI(M) central committee meeting.
