1. A Video Call from Wife Cost ND Tiwari’s Son Rohit Shekhar His Life, Say Cops

It took barely two minutes for a quarrel between an estranged husband and wife to turn into a murder on the morning of 16 April. For Delhi Police, it took over a week to establish that the wife was the alleged killer.

A video call had triggered the quarrel and a taunt about a shared glass of alcohol with another woman (name withheld) had led to the murder, police said.

The events leading to the murder of 40-year-old Rohit Shekhar Tiwari, son of former UP chief minister ND Tiwari, began around 5.30 pm on 15 April, while he was returning to Delhi from Kathgodam in Uttarakhand, where he had gone to cast his vote.

2. Bodies of Two Minor Girls Found Hanging in Chitrakoot

Bodies of two minor girls were found hanging from a tree in a village under Mau police area of Chitrakoot on Wednesday night, police said.

According to their kin, the girls went out to attend nature’s call around noon and did not return, police said.

Their death could be the result of a suicide pact as both of them were friends, but investigation is still on to ascertain the exact reason. SP Chitrakoot Manoj Jha said the police are waiting for the post-mortem report. “The police are investigating the case and their family members have been questioned,” he added.

3. Delhi: 56-Year-Old ‘Stabs’ Mother, Brother to Death in Dwarka

A 56-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing to death his mother and younger brother in Dwarka’s Bindapur Tuesday. Police identified the accused as Sunil Arora.

“We were standing outside when my neighbour, Rajender, who was bleeding, came asking for help. He said his elder brother Sunil had stabbed him and his mother,” complainant Naresh Singh told police.

4. Charges to Be Framed Against School Principal Accused of Beating Two Students

A Delhi court has ordered framing of criminal charges against the principal of Rajindra Public School, Nihal Vihar, for allegedly beating two students with a pipe for not doing their homework in 2015.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal also ordered that criminal intimidation charges be framed against Raghuvinder Shokeen, the AAP MLA from Nangloi and founder-chairman of the school, for allegedly misbehaving with the father of the children.

5. Denied Money to Buy Liquor, Man Kills Mom, Brother with Knives, Scissors, Bat

Denied money for alcohol, a man allegedly killed his 75-year-old mother and younger brother at their home in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar Tuesday night, police said. The suspect, 52-year-old Sunil Arora, allegedly used two knives, a pair of scissors and a laundry bat to murder them, police said.

After assaulting them, Arora allegedly sat next to his bleeding mother and brother and smoked a beedi before some policemen and local residents overpowered him, an eyewitness, who did not wish to be named, said.

6. Man Held in TN for Killing Ex-Employer's Father in Mumbai

A man was arrested in Tamil Nadu for allegedly killing his former employer's 70-year-old father in suburban Borivali last week, police said on Thursday, 25 April.

The accused, identified as Mahesh Chandra Gouda, who hailed from Karnataka, used to work in the shop of the victim's son earlier, police said.

According to police, Waman Malhar Joshi was murdered by an unidentified person while he was alone at his residence on 18 April .

7. 5 Men Rape Teen in Assam, Upload Video on Social Media, 3 Arrested: Cops

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by five men in a forest in Assam's Hojai district a month ago, police said on Thursday. The incident came to light after a video shot by one of the accused went viral on social media, an official said, adding that three persons have been arrested in the matter.

An FIR in the case was filed on Wednesday. The complaint said that the girl was raped by the five men on March 25 when she was going to a relative's place with her brother-in-law.

8. 'Fake' Microsoft Officials Forced Schools to Buy Pirated Software, Caught

The police have arrested three men, including two graduates, for impersonating as authorised representatives of Microsoft Corporation and extorting money from several schools in Delhi, a police officer said on Thursday.

Abhinav Jain, a resident of Saraswati Vihar, Ishan Garg, a resident of Alipur and Deepak, a resident of Suleman Nagar in the national capital, were arrested on Wednesday from Rohini Sector-8, the officer said.

9. Man Sentenced to 20 Years in Jail for Raping 3-Year-Old in Rajasthan

A 25-year-old man was sentenced to 20-year rigorous imprisonment by a court on Thursday for raping a three-and-a-half-year-old girl last year, the police said.

Ajay Rai alias Taxi, a resident of Bangali Basti of Kota city, was convicted by the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court, special public prosecutor (SPP) Ritesh Mewara said.
