Imtiaz Pathan, one of the key witnesses in the Gulbarg society massacre, has expressed disappointment over the verdict the Special Court handed out in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
Eleven have been convicted of murder, and 13 for lesser offences.
But the court rejected the charge of criminal conspiracy against all 66 accused, saying there was no evidence.
But Imtiaz Pathan, who lost ten members of his immediate family in the massacre, rubbishes the court’s denial of criminal conspiracy.
Speaking to The Quint, Imtiaz said he witnessed the desperate attempts made by ex-MP, Ehsan Jafri, to speak to ministers and police officers to try and secure the lives of the hundreds of Muslim families he had sheltered in his house.
Instead of ensuring the safety of the minorities from the rioting mob, the police officers waited until after the massacre to secure the place.
