DCP (West) Ajay Hilori told The News Minute that police had made arrests in connection with the arson case on Tuesday, but declined to specify the number.

On Monday, several parts of Bengaluru witnessed vandalism and arson, as protests erupted against the Supreme Court’s modified order to release water to Tamil Nadu.

Forty-five out of 52 buses that were stationed at the depot in Nayandahalli, Byataranyapura police station limits, were torched by miscreants. The bus company is owned by K Natarajan, who hails from Salem in Tamil Nadu. The company operates hundreds of buses that ply through Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry.

According to The Times of India report, officials of United India Insurance, which insures KPN Travels pegged the firm’s losses at Rs 10 crore.

Natarajan reportedly said that the travels company would resume service in Karnataka only if both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka governments assured safety.
