Yasmeen Khalid, wife of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) professor, Khalid Bin Yusuf Khan, alleged that her husband pronounced triple talaq over Whatsapp. She has threatened to commit suicide along with her children, reports The Times of India.
In a statement to The Times of India, Yasmeen said that she had been given talaq on Whatsapp and text by Khan, who is the chairman at the Department of Sanskrit at AMU. They had been married for 27 years. She says:
He turned me out of the house and I have been running from pillar to post to get justice. But no one has helped me so far. However, with the help of police, I did manage to get access to my house on Friday evening.

While Yasmeen has threatened suicide in front of AMU VC’s house if she isn’t granted justice by 11 December, Khan has denied allegations.
Speaking to ANI, he said:
I haven’t given her triple talaq. I divorced her verbally, sent the same via post and WhatsApp. After a month, I divorced her verbally and sent it via SMS. She is still my wife. There was never a third divorce.
However, a Times of India report quotes him as saying that while the third talaq is pending, he would go ahead and divorce her.
To the contrary, she has been harassing me for the last two decades. She had hidden various facts from me before our marriage. I later got to know that she was not even a graduate, unlike what she had claimed. I will give her the third talaq too, on a proper date, and no one can stop me. According to Rajesh Pandey, SSP Aligarh, Yasmeen hasn’t yet filed a police complaint in the case.
