The Supreme Court has issued a stay on criminal proceedings against Mahendra Singh Dhoni in a case against him for allegedly portraying Lord Vishnu on a cover of the Business Today magazine.

An Anantapur District Court in Andhra Pradesh had issued a non-bailable warrant against Dhoni on January 8 and had summoned him on February 25 for a hearing.
Social worker Jayakumar Hiremath had filed a case against Dhoni under Sections 295A and Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
The Karnataka High Court dismissed Dhoni’s petition.
