- BJP, the opposition in Uttarakhand on Saturday alleged that the Harish Rawat-led government is creating “administrative chaos” in the state by transferring well-performing officials under “political pressure”.
- BJP spokesperson Munna Singh Chauhan claimed that these transfers are being made to appease party leaders. According to Chauhan, Rawat is shaken by the revolt from within the party and is “ready to go to any extent to assuage flared tempers and keep his flock together”.
- People in Uttarkashi sat on a dharna recently protesting the transfer of District Magistrate Shridhar Babu Addanki within a month.
Udhamsingh Nagar SSP Aanant Shankar Takwale was transferred to Ramanagar and brought back within a fortnight.
Similarly, District Magistrate Akshat Gupta was transferred recently.
