S Sivamurthy was missing since Monday, 25 June. He was found dead on Wednesday inside a tank near Krishnagiri.

S Sivamurthy (47), a relative of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram who was missing since Monday, was found murdered and his body found dumped in a tank near Krishnagiri on Wednesday, 27 June.

Sivamurthy was a businessman who ran a knitwear unit in Tirupur. Police suspect business rivalry as the motive for the murder. Acting on a tip-off received on Monday night, the police arrested Vimal, Manibharathi and Gowtham near Ambur. On interrogation, they confessed to having murdered Sivamurthy.

In 2011, another relative of Chidambaram, Nachal Chokalingam, an employee of Bank of America, was found strangled with a plastic bag wrapped around her head, and hands tied behind her back. Post mortem reports from the Royapettah Government Hospital ruled out sexual assault. The police said she could have been strangled with a towel.
