Shipra Malik, a 31-year-old fashion designer, who went missing from Noida since 29 February was found alone, in a house in a village near Gurgaon.
After interrogating her, Lakshmi Singh, DIG of Meerut range said, “This was not a case of abduction. Shipra left voluntarily because she was upset over a strong family dispute.”
The police say Shipra called her husband at around 1:30 am and informed him of her whereabouts in Gurgaon.
The Gurgaon police say Shipra told the villagers that she escaped from the clutches of four men who abducted her and took her to various locations.
After she was found, the case was transferred to the Noida police, who ruled out the possibility of rape or abduction, based on her statements.
Malik’s relatives had earlier posted for help on Facebook.
The police are suspecting a case of abduction, after her Maruti Swift car was found abandoned barely less than 100 metres from her house in Sector 37.
Shipra Malik, a boutique owner married to a constructor tried to dial the police helpline 100 at around 3 pm when she was in Lajpat Nagar. The call, however, failed to connect. The family has lodged an FIR at Noida sector 24 police station.
