Fearing Failure, Boy Commits Suicide Before Results, Scores 71%

A class XII student committed suicide, fearing he had failed his board exams, only to score 71 percent.

  • Fearing failure in Class XII board exams, a 17-year-old boy committed suicide, hours before the results were declared.


  • Shaktiganesh, a student of a private school in Karamadai, hanged himself in his house in Periyanaicken Palayam on the outskirts of Coimbatore, while his parents had gone out.


  • He had expressed the fear that he may score low marks or fail in the examinations. However, the boy, son of a retired postal employee, scored 861 marks out of 1200 marks and cleared the exam, said the police.
