In an interesting move to promote job opportunities in the futuristic vocations courses, the Budget 2019 allocates its focus on the technology industry with new initiatives.
For this, Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Minister mentioned that a skill training centre will be setup in the country, equipping over 10 million youth from across the country in subjects like Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, virtual reality (VR) and 3D printing among others.
Considering most of the world is heading in the direction, it’s probably the right time to shift focus to technical subjects that will offer job opportunities to the youth in the country, thereby help grow the economy as well.
Offering courses in these subjects is commendable but we’d have to wait to understand the nitty-gritty of the announcement made, especially with regards to the finance allocation that will be done to make all these happen in the coming years.
As of now, these courses are being provided by brands like Udacity and Coursera among others but we’re yet to see these courses replicated from online to offline structure, posing challenges with regards to the faculty that will be entrusted in shaping the future of the youth in the sector.
