One protester was killed and several others injured after they were allegedly lathicharged by the police in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow on Wednesday.
The protesters, comprising teachers and government officials were demanding a revival of old pension schemes, when they clashed with police personnel. The police officers who purportedly beat them up were in an inebriated state, the group alleged.
Calling for a strict inquiry into the matter, the protesters also demanded UP CM Akhilesh Yadav’s presence at the hospital.
