“Don’t burst a patakha, be one!”

In a bid to ensure that India is cracker-free on Diwali night, many people forwarded this message to their friends, family and neighbourhood uncles. But why does the environment have to be saved from noxious fumes by indulging in equally toxic, misogynistic language?

Lingerie brand Zivame has released a sarcastic take on your neighbourhood-patakha featuring comedian Sumukhi Suresh.

In the video, we see Sumukhi getting ready for Diwali, as she recounts the everyday sexism she faces inside and outside the house. Decking up in explosive accessories, she is grateful for the names and catcalling that is thrown at her, on days other than Diwali.

After all, what is not to like when you are called an ‘atom bomb’ on your way to work every morning, right?
