Guys! Bipasha Basu just took the plunge. Tied the knot. Said her vows.
She just got married to beefcake man Karan Singh Grover. You understand what that means, right? They’ll be sharing a home; and besides the fights they will have about the decor (who doesn’t?), they will probably want to keep a collection of movies in their home. You know, with her being an actress and all.
Long before Sunny Leone came sauntering her goods, Bipasha was making sexy look good in Hindi movies. But Bipasha might not want to remember some of her movies too fondly – movies that were plain bizarre or awkward (at least for us).
We list these out for her, so she knows which aisle she shouldn’t let Karan go to at the DVD store.
Rudraksh
2004 must have been a dull, dull year. But to liven up proceedings came the Bipasha Basu starrer Rudraksh. In this movie, Bipasha Basu is a scientist who studies the paranormal.
To ensure she takes this role seriously, she is seen in a white lab coat and spectacles.
She’s no prude though. She dumps the frumpy clothes for a slinky outfit in a song as she attempts to seduce the masseur Sanjay Dutt. For his part, Sanjay Dutt looks visibly uninterested. The movie has no discernible plot but it is obvious that none of the cast had access to a barber and also features Sunil Shetty who communicates with people through dreams.
This and some seriously mind-numbing special effects made this movie a no-go.
Rakht
Why stop at one horrible movie when you can have two in the same year? Bipasha Basu went from being scientist to tarot card reader in a multi-starrer called Rakht. Bipasha could see the future in this movie but somehow couldn’t predict how horribly this would fail.
The movie is supposed to be dark – a fact we glean mostly from Bipasha’s black clothes. I do get why most us didn’t get it though. The seductive numbers randomly inserted into the paper thin narrative threw us off. That and the want of logic.
Gunaah
Bipasha did a movie called Gunaah. The crime here wasn’t the movie though. It was casting someone like Dino Morea in a lead role. I mean, I have a bookshelf that has more expressions than this man does. But, let that not distract you from this serious movie where Bipasha plays a cop.
A cop who – and this is actually true – does not manage to nab a criminal because she gets distracted by his muscular body. No, I am not making this up.
Barsaat
When Bips had still not found her calling as ‘horror queen’, she did a movie with Bobby Deol called Barsaat. Maybe Bobby Deol wanted to star in every movie with this title but that doesn’t explain what Bipasha was doing here. Anyway, in this movie, Bobby falls in love with Bipasha, returns to India to divorce his wife Priyanka Chopra and then ends up falling in love with her. To sum it up, Bipasha loves Bobby. Bobby loves Bipasha. Bobby goes to India. Bobby loves Priyanka.
In the end, Bipasha is left out in the cold while Priyanka and Bobby reignite their passion for each other.
Humshakals
There has never been a movie that almost every actor has distanced himself or herself from like this one. This godawful movie was paraded as a comedy but was a disaster, facing flak for its content and everything else. Bipasha Basu called it the ‘most humiliating experience of my life’ and a mistake.
We think so too, Bips. We think so too.
So can we assume this isn’t the movie you and Karan will be curling up on the couch, watching?
