Actor Kalki Koechlin’s newest avatar is in the form of a podcast host. A new BBC podcast called ‘My Indian Life’ is being hosted by the actor, in which she talks to young Indians on what it’s like to be young in India.

Her podcasts are deep – she delves into the lives of the characters and understands the nuances and the issues that they face.

India today is young and raring to go. Yet, there is one part of our society that just refuses to progress with the youth. We still refuse to give the LGBTQI community the rights that they deserve, we still cocoon women in endless restrictions, and we are still wary of letting our youth explore opportunities outside the preset cultural and traditional parameters.

You can expect a vast range of different kinds of people. We have a young boy who’s a Dalit leader in college, all of that caste discrimination that he faced growing up in the slums in Nagpur. We have an episode with an ice hockey player from Ladakh and the odds of a woman playing ice hockey. She used to borrow equipment from her elder brother. They used to spend all night making the rink because there was no ice rink.
Kalki Koechlin on her podcast

Kalki Koechlin believes that doing this podcast helped her come out of her own ‘social media echo chamber’.

It really opened up my views. The kind of things I listen to are still very much connected to the people that I know. I am learning a lot.

When asked whether this was a gradual shift from the big screen, Kalki said that she was simultaneously working on Gully Boy and that she continues to pick up cool projects along with her big-screen exploits.
