Dear Soldier, Before Caste or Creed, Country Comes First For You

We might be fascinated by heroes in movies, but we are most inspired by you.

Prakash Konkar sends his ‘sandesh to a soldier’ from Andhra Pradash.

Dear Soldier,

Wishes for Republic Day. I have written a small poem for you –

“Over millions of hours, lakhs of miles, you were a flame
In the journey of cyclopean darkness flooded with herculean terrors.
You are not just a person in a uniform, you are a soldier.

In the freezing ice-chipping Siachen brutal winter, blood gauges in the veins.
But every time you arise, you obey your order with fire;
Each time there is terror, you step up to defend her freedom,
To restore her home of peace.
You arise, you obey, you soldier on.

Your triumphant service and loyalty, packed on with combat gear,
so that you may live to see yet shining another day,
to feel yet another ray of light on your face.
You are not just a person in a uniform.
You are the force, you are a soldier!”

We might get fascinated by heroes in movies but we are most inspired from you. Do not let the words of politicians inject to your mind, because you keep your country first. There is no politics, no religion, no caste, no creed.

Jai Hind!
Prakash Konkar,
Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh
