Margaret Hilda Thatcher, Baroness Thatcher was the first woman prime minister of the United Kingdom. She’s also come to known as the “Iron Lady” for her leadership style.
In her tenure as the Prime Minister, she took many initiatives to battle with the recession that Britain was facing then. She also privatised many state-owned companies, social housing and public transportation.
Even though Thatcher is a controversial leader, she is known to be the one of most influential politicians of the UK.
Arthur Christopher Orme Plummer is an actor who famously portrayed the role of Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music (1965).
The Canadian actor received two Emmys, two Tony Awards, a Golden Globe Award, among others. In 2012, at the age of 82 he became the oldest person to win an Academy Award for Beginners.
He also starred in movies like Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991), Caesar and Cleopatra (2009), The Day That Shook the World (1975).
Sacha Baron Cohen
We've watched him in Hugo, The Dictator and been enthralled by his voice as Julien in Madagascar. British actor and comedian Sacaha Baron Cohen worked as a model in his formative years, before finding his way to the 11 'o' Clock Show, which gave him his identity as Ali G in 1998.
Cohen then went on to star in spin-off shows based on Ali G- Da Ali G Show and the film Ali G Indahouse.
He was voted as the Personality of the year at the TV Quick Awards in London in 2000. In 2007, he was named on EW's The 50 Smartest People in Hollywood. He also won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy for his film Borat the same year. In 2013, he was awarded the BAFTA Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy.
Born Kumudlal Ganguly, Ashok Kumar is one of the finest and most celebrated actors in Indian Cinema. Affectionately called 'Dadmoni', he started off as a lab assistant in Bombay talkies. He shot to fame when in 1943, he starred as the country's first anti-hero in Kismet, a film that grossed Rs 1 crore in the box-office, yet another first.
He has starred in several blockbusters including Sangam, Sajan, Chalti ka naam gaadi, Mr India, and Jewel Thief- to name a few.
His contribution to Indian Cinema did not merely stop with his acting talents. He is known to have 'paved the way' for several directors including BR Chopra and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. He also helped launch is brothers Kalyan and Kishore Kumar, the latter going on to become on of the most celebrated singers of all times.
Kumar was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1968, and has a list of other awards such as the National Film award, Filmfare award and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in his kitty.
He was also awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1999. Kumar breathed his last on 10 December 2001 aged 90, leaving behind a legacy in his wake.
