Rakesh Ranjan alias Rocky Yadav, who allegedly shot dead a Class XII student for overtaking his SUV, has surrendered at a local court a day after the Supreme Court stayed the Patna High Court order granting him bail in the case.

Despite the apex court’s directions on Friday, Rocky had remained untraceable. Police had conducted raids to trace him.

On Saturday, he surrendered in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADJ)-(IX) Suresh Prasad Mishra who sent him to jail.

I have immense faith in the judiciary. The allegations levelled against me are baseless and concocted... I have full faith in the court.
Rocky Yadav told reporters

His mother and suspended JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi too expressed her full faith in the judiciary.

Rocky had been granted bail by the High Court on 19 October last, which was challenged by the state government in the apex court.

The Bihar government told the Supreme Court that his release from jail had raised concerns about giving him the opportunity to influence witnesses.

Rocky is accused of shooting and killing a Class XI student, Aditya Sachdeva, on 7 May near Gaya.

Aditya (19) was driving home in a Maruti Swift along with three other school friends. Rocky, who was driving a Land Rover, was reportedly enraged at being overtaken by a smaller car. He first fired in the air to make Aditya stop and then shot again.
