With a thin four-member team to represent a population of 1.2 billion, India lacked representation at the 69th meet of the World Health Assembly, reports Livemint.
The Union Health Minister, JP Nadda, who had represented the country in 2015, could not attend due to the ongoing case of National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET), the report claims.
The members who represented India were:
- Ayush Minister SY Naik
- Director General of Health Services Dr J Prasad
- Additional Secretary for Health CK Mishra
- Joint Secretary for Health A Prakash

To put things in perspective, Thailand, which has proposed a major resolution to “end inappropriate promotion of foods for infants and young children,” sent a team of 60 members.
Due to scare representation, India was unable to participate in parallel negotiations to finalise resolutions and decisions at the World Health Assembly (WHA).
