FB LIVE: Express Love, No Matter What: Team ‘Mughal-E-Azam’
On Friday evening, we had a very unique bunch of time-travellers at The Quint.
Team ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ dropped by for a chat and we couldn’t help but travel back in time.
Nope, not the classic, of course!
We are talking about the play. ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ pays tribute to the 1960 classic, premiered in September last year and will be back in Delhi from Feb 1. Directed by Feroz Abbas Khan and produced by Deepesh Salgia, the 150 minute musical is, unanimously, a visual treat!
Apart from the director and the producer, we caught up with Priyanka Bharve and Neha Sargam, the actors playing the role of ‘Anarkali’ – the tragic heroine with a spectacular love story.
Can the play be summed up in a few words for somebody who hasn’t watched the movie?
What were the auditions like, after much speculation regarding the casting?
How did the team pull off a play that is, arguably, one of the most expensive theatrical productions in India?
What would the ‘Anarkalis’ want to say to the modern-day Tinder-wielding generation?
How would the actors and the director describe ‘Anarkali’?
We got the team to answer all of the above and much more! Tune in, before we give away more spoilers!
Now that you’ve watched all of it, do let us know what you think and what more you would like us to talk about!
And don’t forget, this Valentine’s day, like Mr Khan said, express love no matter what, and ask those who try to restrain you to “buzz off’’!
(We Indians have much to talk about these days. But what would you tell India if you had the chance? Pick up the phone and write or record your Letter To India. Don’t be silent, tell her how you feel. Mail us your letter at firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll make sure India gets your message)
