5 Reasons Why ‘Rock On!!’ Rocked For Me

This is why we loved ‘Rock On!!’ and we hope ‘Rock On 2’ can live up to expectations.

After 8 years of Rock On!!, Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal and Purab Kohli are back with Rock On 2. While it promises to be a musical drama like the original, Rock On 2’s music hasn’t caught on as much it was expected to. While the sequel goes in for it’s acid test in theatres over the weekend, we take a moment here to look back and appreciate the things that Rock On!! gave us.

1. The Kick Ass Music, Of Course

Even before the release of the film, the songs of Rock On!! had hit the popularity charts. It was a fresh change from the same old Bollywood numbers. From the quirky head-banging number Pichle Saat Dinon Mein... and to ballads like Tum Ho Toh and Phir Dekhiye, the soundtrack was personal favourite.

2. It Gave Us the Drool-Worthy Farhan Akhtar

*Whistles* Farhan Akhtar with long curly hair and a bandana! DROOOOOLLLL! It was the moment when we realised this cool hotness was behind Dil Chahta Hai and Don. New found respect for Javed Akhtar who gave us Akhtar junior!

3. It Made Arjun Rampal Do the Impossible - Act

You making that face won’t change the fact bro! It’s the honest truth, we saw Arjun Rampal come up with an awesome performance as the brooding Joseph (Joe) Mascarhenas. He even clinched the National Award for Best Supporting Actor for this, so there!

4. Bollywood’s First Ever Rock Movie

The usual Bollywood crowd didn’t know the meaning of rock music till they saw Rock On!!. After the film released everyone wanted to be a rockstar. Yeah, even Ranbir Kapoor :).

5. Passion Over Money = Happiness

Yes, that’s true. Money can’t buy everything, especially happiness. Rock On!! taught us that if you follow your dreams and choose to do what you really love, you will find happiness. There are many Aditya Shroff’s out there who want to junk their investment banking careers and take the big leap to follow their passion.
