2. ‘Newton’ Unanimously Chosen to Represent India at the Oscars
It almost seems as if the Film Federation of India (FFI) was just waiting for the release of Amit Masurkar’s Newton to announce it as India’s official entry for the Academy Awards this year.
The selection committee of FFI have chosen the Rajkummar Rao-starrer which released today to compete for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Film language category. FFI’s selection committee was headed by Telugu producer, CV Reddy who said that Newton was a unanimous choice.

3. Producer Karim Morani Denied Anticipatory Bail in Rape Case
Rape accused Karim Morani has been denied anticipatory bail by the Supreme Court. Six months ago, he had also been asked to surrender himself for an aggravated rape case. According to the victim’s advocate Karuna Nundy, Morani had allegedly been threatening the victim with “elimination by underworld”.

4. Rohit Bal Arrested for Assaulting Neighbour; Granted Bail
Fashion designer Rohit Bal allegedly got into a brawl with his neighbour, and was arrested this morning .
A CNN-News 18 report stated that Bal, along with 3 of his employees were arrested after they got into a drunken brawl with an unnamed neighbour at 1 am in Delhi. It is also being alleged that the neighbour was beaten up violently.
The designer has been released on bail.
5. I’ll Do My Best to Ensure ‘Newton’ Wins the Oscar: Rajkummar Rao
Amit Mansurkar’s Newton has been selected as India’s entry to the Oscars. And its leading man Rajkummar Rao is over the moon.
“I can feel good things happening to my career one after another. First there was so much appreciation for Bareilly Ki Barfi. Then I was inundated with praise in Toronto for Hansal Mehta’s Omerta. Barely days later I get the most amazing reviews for Newton. As though that weren’t enough, on the day that Newton releases comes the news that our film is going to the Oscars.
