With the protests against Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati hitting ugly proportions, the silver lining to the dark cloud seems to now be visible with responsible members of the ruling party allegedly coming forward to view the film, after it is approved by the censor board.
Apparently there will be special screenings of Padmavati for President of the BJP, Amit Shah, the current Minister for Information and Broadcasting Smriti Irani and Sports Minister Rajyavardha Rathore.
“They are trying to zero in on individuals whose voices would be heard by protesters once the CBFC clears the film. We are very confident that the protests would die down once the film is seen by people.”Source close to the development
As far as the status of Padmavati's CBFC certification goes, it was submitted more than a month ago (reports suggest, the assertions that the film had to be re-submitted for certification as a 3-D print had not been submitted to the CBFC, are false). The CBFC dillydallied over a laughable technicality, then came up with an outdated disused rule about a 68-day gap between submission and certification. The current certification status remains unchanged. The film is yet to get a date for the censor viewing.
