Before we reveal the other winning monikers of this dating land, a little backgrounder on what ‘swiping right’ means. If an ‘interested’ individual swipes right across your Tinder profile, it means they want to initiate a conversation with you which may later culminate into a meet-cute scenario outside the digital zone. But, only after you approve of them.
The responsibility to attract suitors is now shared between your profile picture (with a dash of that Noir or maybe Juno or Walden filter) and, of course, your name.
Tinder carried out the survey across four countries – India, the US, the UK and Australia – and had some interesting finds. For instance, in India, Lalit is the most successful name. Who would’ve thought?
Lalit – the ultimate victor – is followed by Joel, Kushagra, Junaid, Ryan, Sandip, Joshua, Amir, Satya and Michael. Oh, the diversity!
To all the Aanchals out there, yours was the most wanted name, then came in Sonal, Kritika, Sakshi, Himani, Sonam, Natasha, Sanjana, Shivani and Isha. The ubiquitous names of the north Indian heartland. Oh no, where’d the diversity go?
In the UK, the Harrys and the Amelias won while in the US, it was Hannah and Lucas.
