‘Stranger Things’ and ‘Birdbox’ Top Netflix’s Most-Watched List
Recently, Netflix has been surprising everyone by actually giving out viewership data. The streaming giant does this by including the data in its quarterly letters to its shareholders. So with the release of its third quarter earnings, comes new data!
This time, Netflix has revealed data for the past one year. It has shared a list of its most-watched original content from October 2018 to October 2019 - both movies and shows.
According to viewership data, Netflix’s top 10 list of most-watched movies is topped by Birdbox with 80 million views. Murder Mystery is second on the list with 73 million views. It is followed Triple Frontier, The Perfect Date, Tall Girl, The Highway Men, Secret Obsession, Always Be My Maybe, Otherhood, and Fyre. Fyre’s figures stand at just 20 million.
The list of top 10 most-watched series is topped by Stranger Things with 64 million views. The least-watched on the list is Elite. The Umbrella Academy is second on the list, with 45 million views. It is followed by La Casa de Papel, You, Sex Education, Our Planet, Unbelievable, Dead to Me and When They See Us.
After Stranger Things 3 dropped on the platform on 4 July, Netflix had shared the news that the show was breaking records on its platform.
Netflix had tweeted, “@Stranger_Things 3 is breaking Netflix records! 40.7 million household accounts have been watching the show since its July 4 global launch — more than any other film or series in its first four days. And 18.2 million have already finished the entire season.”
Stranger Things is created by the Duffer Brothers. It follows the story of a small town, called Hawkins, that is haunted by a dangerous monster. The monster is discovered by Will Byers (Noah Schnapp). The series chronicles the efforts of Hawkins’ residents as they try to stop the monster from taking over the place. The show is set in the 80s.
