The Kashmir Floods Changed Everything

In May 2015, while watching the coverage of the Kashmir floods, Bhuvan saw a TV reporter asking witless questions to a mother, who had lost her child in the tragedy. He instantly made a video satirizing the reporter. The video shot up and went viral all across the country and to date marks as turning point in Bhuvan’s career.

The video was watched by more than 15 thousand people and and likes on his Facebook page multiplied in a single night.

The Rise

As BB just kept uploading videos, their crisp punchlines and timely dialogue people started imitating his characters. He remained the face of everything shared on social media. In less than a year, he became the first Indian YouTuber to hit 2 million subscribers.

What’s Fame Without Controversy?

Controversy came with his video titled ‘Papa Makichu’ - which was reported by musician Tahir Shah as a copyright infringement. Bhuvan later went online and asked his fans to reach out to Tahir Shah and inbox him to remove the claim.

In an interview with Rajeev Masand, Bhuvan regretted copying Dr. Sehgal’s name and ‘retired’ the character.
