After the mammoth success of Uri, Vicky Kaushal’s next is a biopic on Udham Singh, to be directed by Shoojit Sircar. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the announcement.

Udham Singh was a daring martyr who assassinated Michael O' Dwyer, the former lieutenant governor of Punjab in pre-Independence India, to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar in 1919. Singh was then tried for murder and convicted in 1940. He was hung subsequently.

Shoojit is elated at Vicky’s casting in the film and said, “I have been waiting to tell the heroic tale of Shaheed Udham Singh for a very long time. It is a story very close to my heart. For it, I needed an actor who could give his heart and soul to the film, be with me and tell the story together. Vicky fits the bill perfectly. I have seen his work and the dedication he brings to it. I'm very happy he is on board this project.”

For Vicky too it is a dream come true as the Vicky Donor and Piku director had been on his wish list.

“It’s a surreal feeling because it’s like a dream come true as I am finally getting to work with him. I have always been a big admirer of how Shoojit sir looks at his stories. The way he is looking at the character (Udham) and the world is extraordinary as well as beautiful”.
