Was Offered Sobhita’s Role in ‘Made in Heaven’: Sonam Kapoor
Why did Sonam not do the show?
Recently a bunch of actors, including Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpayee, Emraan Hashmi, have taken the plunge from films to OTT platforms. Now, Sonam Kapoor has also spoken about how she was offered a role in Zoya Akhtar’s Made In Heaven.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle about why she didn’t do the show, Sonam said, “I got offered only one thing on the digital space, which was Made in Heaven, and I couldn’t do it because I was getting married. I don’t think I was offered anything since then.”
She adds that she ‘loved’ the script, and was offered Sobhita’s part, but couldn’t have done it as well as her.
She said, “She was really good at it, so I did see a couple of episodes, and I think it was fabulously made. I didn’t have the dates that time too, and a show is a huge commitment; you are bound to do the season. Before my husband, I had a huge commitment phobia anyway.”
Made In Heaven revolves around two wedding planners Tara and Karan, and chronicles their journey as they navigate through familial complexities. Sobhita’s character as Tara, was someone who had a rags to riches story, and was dealing with a crumbling marriage. The show also starred Arjun Mathur, Jim Sarbh and Kalki Koechlin.
Sonam Kapoor’s last release was The Zoya Factor opposite Dulquer Salmaan. She plays Zoya Solanki, who ends up being a lucky charm for the Indian cricket team. Dulquer Salmaan played the role of the team’s captain, Nikhil Khoda. The film is directed by Abhishek Sharma and is an adaption of Anuja Chauhan’s bestselling novel.
