Sanju baba is back and this time, it’s definitely with a bang. The trailer launch of Sanjay Dutt’s comeback film Bhoomi was a star-studded event and a double celebration, because it was his daughter Trishala’s birthday.

It is an important day for Trishala and we all miss her. We all wish she was here, but it is her birthday and it was the best day for the trailer to be launched.

Trishala couldn’t be in Mumbai in person but she did send an emotional message for her father on their big day.

Dear Daddy Duke, it feels so nice to know that you chose to launch the trailer of Bhoomi on my birthday as a surprise. It means so much to me that you chose the father-daughter relationship as your comeback film. I am really, really proud of you dad, more than you know. I am really blessed to be a part of you, I love you forever.

Aditi Rao Hydari, Ranbir Kapoor, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani and director Omung Kumar cheered for the actor on stage. Bhoomi is based on a father-daughter relationship and during the launch event, Dutt shared his experiences of filming after a long time and what he missed the most about Bollywood.

Coming back to films was like coming back home. The cameras, the lights and the hustle and bustle of the sets... I was nervous as first but after one dialogue got approved, I was good to go.

I don’t see the script, I don’t rehearse, I just do what comes in my way. I was like that before and I am still the same.

Adti Rao Hydari, who plays Dutt’s on-screen daughter, was full of praise for him.

Bhoomi is really blessed to have her baba. He looks very intimidating but I always say that he is the Big Friendly Giant. He has made me laugh in a scene just when I was weeping for another scene.

Though Bhoomi marks his big comeback, a film that Dutt really wanted to be in is the Hollywood’s signature superhero flick Batman. This cracked up Ranbir Kapoor, who will be essaying his character in Rajkumar Hirani’s upcoming biopic.

Rajkumar Hirani, who has given Sanjay Dutt one of his biggest hit Muna Bhai and now is directing a biopic on Sanjay Dutt’s life, revealed that Sanjay Dutt unfolded his entire life in front of him.

Sanjay Dutt opened all the cards about his life in front of me and said I could take whatever I want to.

Dutt feels his life has always been an open book.

My life has always been open in public, I have nothing to hide and I had nothing to hide ever.

While not revealing much about Hirani’s much-awaited biopic, Ranbir did talk about what it took him into get into Dutt’s heart, mind and psyche, and why that process was rather challenging.

One man cannot live like that in just one life. I felt like it is a science-fiction, I couldn’t really believe one man can do so much in one life. When Sanjay Sir invited me for the trailer launch, I felt like it’s the trailer launch of my own movie.

One thing that I have learnt from Mnayata is anger and that I have shown in the movie. I am actually scared of Manyata, Priya, Vidhu Sir. They are my biggest critics and do criticise my work when they don’t like it.
