If there’s something Rakhi Sawant is known for, it’s being a great actor. By which we mean, she does the one job expected from a great actor: keep the audience entertained.
It’s wedding season in Bollywood, with Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh just wrapping their festivities while Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas gear up for theirs. Not one to let go of the limelight easily, Rakhi has decided to add herself into the mix.
You see, most of us watch the glamour and glitz of high profile celebrity weddings and think to ourselves, what if I got married too? Meanwhile, Rakhi Sawant is the sort of person who actually goes out and does it. You heard that right, Rakhi has announced that she’s getting married to India’s Got Talent ‘star’ Deepak Kalal. Reportedly. Allegedly. Maybe. Maybe not.
You see while most media outlets are falling over themselves to report this the next big wedding in town, we consider ourselves smarter and decided to do some basic investigation. Exhibit A: the invite. First of all, there’s the fact that Rakhi shared it with multiple laughing emoji, suggesting that we’re not expected to take it seriously.
Then there’s the invite itself. This thing looks like it was created in an outdated version of MS Paint, with clip art to bait. It’s got a typo in the frickin’ groom’s name. The event is supposed to happen 5:55 PM on 31st December i.e. New Year’s Eve, which even if you ignore the absurd timing, doesn’t make any sense. And then there’s the supposed venue of ‘Los Angeles’. That’s specific enough, I guess.
Now, obviously Rakhi is enjoying the attention she’s getting by people who take this at face value. So she’s been doubling down on the announcement, “confirming” to a reputed news publication that the wedding is definitely happening and also mentioning that Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan are definitely coming. Oof.
Well, all we can say at this point is, you’ve got us hooked Rakhi. We’re desperately waiting for the punchline.
