After ‘Virushka’ walked down the aisle last year in December, we are more than looking forward to Bollywood’s uncrowned queen of style Sonam Kapoor’s wedding - reportedly slated for May. Looks like Sonam is set to tie the knot with her businessman beau, Anand Ahuja in a grand celebration - speculations are rife about various dreamy wedding destinations and favoured designer wear.
But who is Anand Ahuja? Here's everything you want to know about Sonam's husband-to-be.
To begin with, Anand is the grandson of Harish Ahuja, a Delhi-based businessman and owner of ‘Shahi Exports’ (which is apparently India’s largest export house), where he now serves as Managing Director. Born and raised in Delhi, Anand has two younger brothers, Amit and Anant Ahuja.
He completed his schooling from the American Embassy School in the capital, and graduated in Economics and International Affairs from the University of Pennsylvania. In the year, 2010, he went to the world-renowned B-school, Wharton to pursue his MBA, but didn’t complete it.
He interned with Deutsche Bank to understand how the financial world works. After which Ahuja worked with a Macy’s Inc. store owned by his uncle, to learn the nitty-gritties of retail business. He also worked in Last Sportswear and Amazon.com as a Product Manager in Seattle, USA before the entrepreneur bug bit him.
Ahuja's love for apparel and sneakers helped him build India's first multi-brand sneaker company, ‘Veg Non Veg’ and in 2011, he joined Shahi exports to launch the clothing brand ‘Bhane’.
Ahuja has a keen sense of business and has a strong foothold in the market when it comes to apparel and shoes. One imagines that’s a prime common interest between Sonam Kapoor and him!
In April 2017, GQ India listed Ahuja in a feature on 'Sneakerheads of Instagram,' considering his massive obsession with shoes, especially sneakers. And it seems that obsession has rubbed on to Sonam as well, as only recently, she has been seen ditching high heels for some comfy sneakers. Now that we say is purely influence, of course, the good kind!
The newest entrant to the Kapoor clan also has a major thing for basketball. He loves playing and watching National Basketball Association (NBA) matches and supports the basketball team, Los Angeles Lakers’. Also, when he's not scoring some dunks in the court, the business tycoon can be seen sweating it out in the gym or touring on one of his BMX bikes.
