In April, we saw Rani’s new look as a cop in Mardaani 2. Now, we have been guaranteed with a release date. And it’s December! Mardaani 2 will release on 13 December 2019. The news was tweeted by trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
“Release date finalized... #Mardaani2 to release on 13 Dec 2019... Stars Rani Mukerji... Will be her next film release, after the smash HIT #Hichki... #Mardaani2 launches a new face as the antagonist... Directed by Gopi Puthran... Produced by Aditya Chopra,” he wrote.
Earlier, the actor had kickstarted the shooting of the YRF project wherein she will reprise the role of Shivani Shivaji Roy. However, this time she will have a new role and added responsibilities as the Superintendent of Police. Yash Raj Films had shared a photo on Instagram of Rani Mukerji, donning the uniform of a cop and sporting a stern expression.
Earlier, Yash Raj Films had revealed Rani Mukerji’s look in Mardaani 2.
Rani is set to face a new villain in this sequel. She had earlier dropped hints about the character saying, “Shivani will face a cold, merciless villain who has no empathy, no fear of God and is pure evil. The character has been written superbly and I’m excited to find out who the actor will be.”
Mardaani 2 will mark the directorial debut of Gopi Puthran, who wrote the original script, and will be produced by Aditya Chopra.
